Legal System
The legal system in Sudan is based on Islamic law which Christians and followers of traditional indigenous beliefs are exempt from and have special courts. The legal system is also based on English common law. These Sudanese laws were approved since 1908, whereas:

  • Sudan Penal Code was issued in 1899 and amended 1983
  • Regulations and Law of Civil jurisdiction: 1955
  • Sharia Courts Law: 1902
  • Corporate Law: 1925
  • Settlement and Registration of Land: 1925
  • Forests Law: 1932, later amended in 1989

Legal Age
Legal age is 18 years, the age of maturity in Sudan which is associated with participation in election management of inheritance, driving, etc
